The license says you can use them, for free. It is very clear, and many developers have already used those assets in many games for a few years. The LPC project was literally meant for providing developers with free 2D assets. If anybody is uncertain or concerned they should consult a professional before using these assets in their projects. The above is simply my interpretation of the licenses. If contributing artists have any issue (despite being credited properly, etc), I can always take it down - but that seems contrary to the goal and spirit of LPC in the first place.Īll this said, I am not a lawyer, and I am not giving legal advice. The whole point of LPC is to make "free" art in the first place. This is why I am not charging any fee for the builder tool, and also why all assets within in it are free to use, modify, etc. Per both those licenses you may use the assets for free or commercial use (in any tools, software, modified form, etc.) so long as you make your work also free to copy and use under the same license. I have a complete list of artist who contributed the different assets. Also, if you just want to give back by contributing new artwork directly, please message me with your sprite sheets and I will be able to incorporate them into future updates. The more support I get through donations or pre-purchases of my game the more I will be able to continue to add to this tool. I will probably commission some more character parts for the tool during the development my game, and I will update it through Steam periodically. This makes the game run at normal speed (animation, movement, and anything else) regardless of framerate.
